Virtual South Shore Science Festival

For the safety of all, the South Shore Science Festival organization team decided to bring to all the South Shore Science Festival to everyone in a Virtual way, since we are driven by STEM, we will leverage avant-garde Technology to  bring the excitement of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math  to all our audience.

In this way we keep children and presenters safe while still delivering the opportunity for children, teenagers and families to learn how much fun STEM is, but now in a virtual manner. This may be innovative and new for some, but for many of us and for some presenters, we have solid experience managing virtual teams and events.

We must not let COVID-19 take away the experience of learning, and with virtual learning we will continue to reach our audience.

The format of the new festival will include (1) 10 live broadcasted presentations / activities of 25 minutes each, plus (2) some pre-recorded activities that we will place in our channel for people to access during the festival and in the future.

We selected Zoom as the platform to conduct the South Shore Science Festival.

If you would like to attend and enjoy the festival register now at our website: https://2020.southshorescience.online/free-registration/

If you would like to join one of the panels, please send us an email to team@soutshorescience.online to be considered for participation as panelist.

Back in 2018 – Volunteer and Presenters Recognition Event!

Another Great Success at our Volunteer Recognition Event!

Thank you to all the presenters and volunteers who came , and we also appreciate the company of Massachusetts Councilor at Large Nina Liang who joined us, too.

A good time was had by all.  Each of the participants shared their experience from this past April and you could sense eagerness to be part of the next South Shore Science Festival — our 5th Anniversary — in 2019.  Getting to know each other this way is not only a positive thing for the festival itself, it’s fun.

Thank you also to our Recognition Event Sponsors: Boston Scientific, Liberty Bay Credit Union, Gateway to Science: Sports & Games and Positive BCS

Attached is the presentation: Volunteers Recognition and 2019 Kick-Off

STEM / STEAM

Are you familiar with the STEM, or STEAM, approach to teaching?  It aims to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics.  It steps away from the traditional textbook-only, single-subject approach to show the relationships among these areas.

Science and math have practical applications by bringing in engineering and technology.  The arts, including music, are based on the science of light and color as well as sound, and much more.  This broad-based approach will reach more students with all their different ranges of strengths.

Every week we will be presenting a flavor of the festival, opportunities for you to be part of it, and a sample of recent technology we offered. In addition, we will suggest some STEM events happening in this area.
